A Day in the Life of a Ryder Driver

About the Position
Class 1 Driver
The Class 1 Driver is responsible for hauling daily freight from the Edmonton distribution center to the Fort Mc Murray Oilsands customer.
Essential Functions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and company regulations, standards, and guidelines
- Identify and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and driver logs
- Load and unload freight, or assist with loading/unloading as required by the customer
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions, required
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, required
- Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up practices
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED, preferred
- Minimum of 9 months of verifiable commercial driving experience, required
- Must not have more than one moving violation or accident (excluding parking) in the last 12 months, required
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement, required
Additional Skills & Expectations
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License
- Experience driving manual transmission trucks
- Flatbed experience is considered an asset

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
