With a comprehensive technology portfolio and deep domain expertise, we deliver cutting-edge systems that solve our customers' toughest challenges and help shape the future of aviation and defence.

Join us at our Plymouth site, where we design and manufacture control, navigation, and guidance systems for both air and surface applications. Our world-class products include MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and the TERPROM® Digital Terrain Reference Navigation System. Our growth plan includes development and extension of our current technologies into civil aircraft applications and we're looking for exceptional engineers to join us on that journey.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing, integrating, and validating complex embedded systems. Working across hardware, software, and mechanical domains, you'll contribute to projects from concept through to delivery, helping ensure our systems perform flawlessly in the most demanding environments.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Supporting system integration for real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software interfaces
  • Ensuring requirements-to-test traceability and unit-based testing
  • Understanding internal (board-to-board, processor/peripheral) and external (unit-to-unit/network) data bus standards
  • Applying logical and innovative problem-solving across software, hardware, and system levels

What You Will Learn

At Collins Aerospace, your career development is as important as our technical innovation. You'll benefit from:

  • Exposure to cutting-edge navigation and sensing technologies
  • Mentorship and training from industry-leading experts
  • Opportunities to work on mission-critical systems used globally
  • A supportive environment that encourages continuous learning and career progression

What You Must Have

  • Demonstrated experience as a Systems Engineer, covering the full development lifecycle
  • Strong requirements capture and management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS (or similar)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (SVN, Git)
  • Data analysis and algorithm development experience, including MATLAB

Skills & Experience We Value

  • Experience with SysML management tools such as EA or Cameo (preferred)
  • Exposure to industrial, automotive, or aerospace standards
  • Hands-on experience with solid-state MEMS gyroscopes or accelerometers (desirable)
  • Electrical or software design and development experience
  • Ability to use an emulator for on-chip debugging
  • Experience using COTS test equipment in a lab environment (oscilloscopes, bus analysers, etc.)

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Excellent 2:1 matched pension contribution (up to 10%)
  • Private healthcare and life assurance
  • 25 days annual leave plus the option to buy or sell up to 5 days
  • Early finish Fridays and a culture that values work life balance
  • Ongoing career development, mentorship, and world class training

How to Apply

If you're passionate about innovation, precision, and purpose—and you're ready to make a real impact in aerospace and defence - then we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and join a team where your expertise helps define the future of navigation and control systems.

Note: The successful candidate must hold an active or be willing and eligible to obtain SC level security clearance. Please note that access to certain projects may be restricted based on nationality.
