What You Will Do

Provide support to manufacturing operations and drive process improvement to improve the company's quality and delivery signature utilizing quality metrics and MRL elements such as PFMEA, Control Plan & Gage R&R as needed. The Product ME will be responsible for a specific part or part family. The scope of this role will include PW internal shop and may also include supply chain support components.

Responsibilities

  • With specific parts ownership, provide direct support to the manufacturing shop floor and drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple process steps that spans the full value stream of the parts
  • Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of MRL elements to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance as needed
  • Identify & implement process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs/escapes and reduce overall product costs
  • As a key member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), interact significantly with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product using statistical analysis tools and other methods as necessary
  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost curves and Qualification plan
  • Maintain discipline and follow-through to fully document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations and recommendations
  • Work with senior management to support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and ACE/CORE initiatives
  • Schedule and facilitate project reviews and ensure validation of MRL gate advancements
  • Use effective scorecards and metrics to ensure progress
  • Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance
  • Represent the organization in various forums related to MRL execution
  • Develop standard work, procedures, and integrate industry-standard best practices
  • Communicate lessons learned to product development/engineering to enable implementation of design for variation (DFV) and robust design methods (DFSS) and other operational organizations for read across implementation

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field and minimum 10 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, OR in lieu of degree 15+ years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Engineering environment
  • Extensive experience managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously
  • Extensive experience reading and interpreting blueprints
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities
  • Demonstrated proficiency leading and managing a portfolio of cross functional projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to use Minitab and other statistical software
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics
  • ACE/CORE/6 Sigma Practitioner/Professional certification
  • Strong understanding of other continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.

Work Environment

This role is onsite. Employees who are working in onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $124,000 USD - $250,000 USD

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
