The SM-3 Senior Principal Program Quality Engineer will be creating and executing strategic initiatives to improve quality throughout SM-3 processes. You will drive continuous improvement using internal and supplier manufacturing data and work with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to implement process and design changes to improve results and quality metrics. You will partner with the program quality manager, program manager, program chief engineer, and other program stakeholders to work as a valuable partner with the program office and other functions. You will oversee quality efforts to ensure delivered products and services meet customer and Raytheon requirements, support program DD250s, champion risks and opportunities, identify and document gaps in expectations between extended customer base and the program implementation baseline, and organize cross-functional teams and utilize a data-driven approach to improve results and quality metrics. You will also interface with the Missile Defense Agency Assurance Representatives (MARs) and DCMA QA Specialists on a regular basis to understand customer concerns within the production facilities and adjust engagement activities accordingly.
This is an on-site role in Tucson, Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute a strategic plan to improve quality throughout SM-3 internal production facilities
- Drive continuous improvement to resolve nonconformance issues, reducing their impact in the factories
- Interface with external and internal customers and key stakeholders to communicate strategy and provide updates after realized improvements
- Support the supplier focused teams in implementing improvements in our supply base
- Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Methodology throughout SM-3 production facilities and Suppliers
- Assess technical risk of non-conformances utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills
- Conduct process and product surveillance of all program activities, including system development through the whole life cycle, system maintenance, operations, and sustainment activities
- Review change requests to assess technical impact
- Support and provide oversight for failure investigations
- Plan and coordinate technical assessments and corrective actions
- Organize cross-functional teams to plan for improvement events throughout the SM-3 production facilities and Suppliers
- May be required to travel up to 10% of the time
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience
- 10 years or more working experience in the defense and aerospace industry
- Experience implementing strategic plans spanning more than 12 months
- Experience leading teams in a matrix environment
- Experience on Material Review Board (MRB), Configuration Control Boards (CCB), and Failure Review Boards (FRB)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree
- Experience on Missile Defense Agency programs
- Experience organizing and executing meetings with cross-functional partners
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Previous experience with SM-3 hardware and suppliers
- Experience serving as an organizational spokesperson to Senior Product Line personnel
- Experience in product development in a DoD environment
- Experience with statistical evaluation tools
- Experience implementing APQP methodology
- Experience coordinating with product and functional teams
- Experience with oral and written communications and people skills
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $124,000 USD - $250,000 USD
The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
