About the Role
Our Air/Ground International Voice Service is the aeronautical industry's air/ground voice communications link for FAA control and communications for aircraft in the oceanic airspace. The service is backed by over 95 years of Collins Aerospace, Connected Aviation experience of providing communications solutions to the aviation market.
ARINC's Radio Technology Solutions (RTS) group is looking for you to join our team in Lakewood, CA as a Senior Field Service Technician to support our Commercial Aviation and Network Services Division. In this role you will have the opportunity to work in an environment where customer service is held in the highest regard.
What You Will Do
- Install, maintain, test, adjust, and repair a wide range of communication equipment, such as radio and antenna systems
- Utilize test equipment as required to perform proper installation or repair
- Interact with customers, vendors, and contractors independently and professionally in support of maintenance and installation activities
- Provide on-the-job training to Associate Field Service Technicians
- Provide 24/7 support, including on-call after hours, on weekends and holidays
- Travel up to 50%
- Obtain an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL) within 6 months of being hired
- Obtain and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badging for access to certain Federally regulated areas at multiple airports, including Security Threat Assessment (STA) and a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and SIDA training
- Lift and carry fifty (50) pounds and climb towers and stepped poles up to fifty (50) feet in height
What You Will Learn
- Support nationwide Air-to-Ground voice and data networks and custom communication solutions
- Gain experience and knowledge to be at the forefront of ensuring the operational viability of these critical communication systems
Qualifications You Must Have
- HS diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Completed a course in practical electronics at a technological school, junior college, or equivalent, OR minimum of two years of practical electronics experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
- RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
Qualifications We Prefer
- Active FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL)
- Experience in fault isolation, restoration, and adjustment of company communications equipment
- Experience analyzing system failures and identifying and restoring equipment malfunctions and failures
- Experience performing testing, repair, and replacement at the component (piece part) and board level
- Prior experience reading and following technical manuals/instructions and basic knowledge of how to read schematics and drawings
