This occupation performs the inspection of metal, composite or plastic fabricated parts and assemblies for conformance to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Use Standard Inspection Equipment (Calipers, Micrometers, etc.), Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Optical Comparators/Smart Scopes, and other verification methods to ensure machined parts conform to technical data packages (TDP) and/or customer quality requirements
  • Perform final inspection activities to verify parts meet technical data package requirements using visual, mechanical, and other inspection techniques
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) to support Engineering and/or production
  • Verify conformance to required tolerances and specifications
  • Assist quality assurance, engineering, and operations in the investigation of non-conformities
  • Perform area surveillance of equipment, tools, and safety precautions
  • Verify calibration and conformance to specifications and established technical data, quality requirements, and standards
  • Work from blueprints, operation instruction sheets, work orders, stock orders, quality control standards, military specifications, and written instructions
  • Manage the calibration cycle and check out/in all mechanical gages in the lab
  • Maintain the cleanliness and protection of precision gages

Qualifications

  • 3 years mechanical inspection experience
  • 3 years of experience utilizing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to use standard inspection equipment including but not limited to Vernier gages, Thread and Plug Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, & Optical Comparators
  • Experience completing first article inspections
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance

Work Environment

This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.

Employees in onsite roles work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
