This occupation performs the inspection of metal, composite or plastic fabricated parts and assemblies for conformance to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Use Standard Inspection Equipment (Calipers, Micrometers, etc.), Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Optical Comparators/Smart Scopes, and other verification methods to ensure machined parts conform to technical data packages (TDP) and/or customer quality requirements
- Perform final inspection activities to verify parts meet technical data package requirements using visual, mechanical, and other inspection techniques
- Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) to support Engineering and/or production
- Verify conformance to required tolerances and specifications
- Assist quality assurance, engineering, and operations in the investigation of non-conformities
- Perform area surveillance of equipment, tools, and safety precautions
- Verify calibration and conformance to specifications and established technical data, quality requirements, and standards
- Work from blueprints, operation instruction sheets, work orders, stock orders, quality control standards, military specifications, and written instructions
- Manage the calibration cycle and check out/in all mechanical gages in the lab
- Maintain the cleanliness and protection of precision gages
Qualifications
- 3 years mechanical inspection experience
- 3 years of experience utilizing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to use standard inspection equipment including but not limited to Vernier gages, Thread and Plug Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, & Optical Comparators
- Experience completing first article inspections
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance
Work Environment
This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.
Employees in onsite roles work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
