Responsibilities
- Set up, program (at the machine and/or offline), and operate CNC mills, lathes, multi-axis machines, grinders, sinker EDM and/or manual equipment to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and advanced GD&T specifications
- Perform complex offsets, tool compensation, and program edits to maintain dimensional accuracy
- Produce precision parts to .0001" or better tolerances with minimal supervision
- Diagnose and resolve complex machining challenges including machine malfunctions, tooling issues, and material discrepancies
- Identify and implement improvements to machining processes, tooling, and programming
- Collaborate with the Tool Design team to create specialized fixtures, jigs, and tooling
- Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.) to ensure parts meet dimensional, surface finish, and tolerance requirements
- Share expertise and best practices to strengthen team capabilities
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and quality standards
- Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S principles
Required Qualifications
- Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience
- Broad knowledge of multiple machines and machining applications
- Expert proficiency in manual and CNC operation, with advanced programming skills
- Mastery of precision measurement and GD&T principles
- Proven ability to work autonomously and solve complex problems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense industry experience
- Specialized machining certifications or advanced technical education
- Experience in tool and die making or other specialized areas
- Process improvement methodology experience
- Effective communication and mentorship abilities

Work Arrangement

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
