Responsibilities

  • Set up, program (at the machine and/or offline), and operate CNC mills, lathes, multi-axis machines, grinders, sinker EDM and/or manual equipment to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and advanced GD&T specifications
  • Perform complex offsets, tool compensation, and program edits to maintain dimensional accuracy
  • Produce precision parts to .0001" or better tolerances with minimal supervision
  • Diagnose and resolve complex machining challenges including machine malfunctions, tooling issues, and material discrepancies
  • Identify and implement improvements to machining processes, tooling, and programming
  • Collaborate with the Tool Design team to create specialized fixtures, jigs, and tooling
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.) to ensure parts meet dimensional, surface finish, and tolerance requirements
  • Share expertise and best practices to strengthen team capabilities
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and quality standards
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S principles

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Broad knowledge of multiple machines and machining applications
  • Expert proficiency in manual and CNC operation, with advanced programming skills
  • Mastery of precision measurement and GD&T principles
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and solve complex problems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or defense industry experience
  • Specialized machining certifications or advanced technical education
  • Experience in tool and die making or other specialized areas
  • Process improvement methodology experience
  • Effective communication and mentorship abilities

Work Arrangement

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
