Job Description:

Join Rockwell Automation as a Product Quality Engineer and play a key role in shaping product quality from early development through sustained field performance. You'll contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) by driving preventive quality actions, participating in design reviews, and identifying risks before products reach customers. You'll also support Post Release Quality by monitoring field performance, leading investigations, and driving corrective actions that improve reliability and customer satisfaction. This role offers broad collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams, with meaningful impact across the entire product lifecycle.

You'll work a hybrid schedule at our facility in Mequon, WI and report to the Team Lead of Product Quality.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical product documentation with an understanding of how products are used in customer applications and environments.
  • Develop and implement quality management strategies that improve both released products and new product designs.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, leaders, and cross‑functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, product management, and global locations.
  • Implement metrics and dashboards that provide visibility into quality performance and support continuous improvement.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that address systemic issues and strengthen product quality and customer issue resolution.
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and ensure corrective and preventive actions address true root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Facilitate and participate in retrospectives to drive ongoing improvement, ensuring action items are documented, tracked, and closed.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement early mitigation plans throughout product development and post‑release phases.
  • Apply quality tools and methodologies—such as Design for Six Sigma, Design for Reliability, and FMEA—throughout product development.
  • Support NPI activities by participating in design reviews, risk assessments, validation planning, and quality gate reviews.
  • Support Post‑Release Quality by monitoring field performance, leading investigations, and driving corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze field data and customer feedback to identify trends and systemic issues, driving resolution through cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Maintain accountability for high‑quality performance throughout the product lifecycle.

The Essentials

You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred

You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years in quality, manufacturing or field service engineering, with demonstrated experience in both product development (NPI) and post-release support.
  • Minimum of 1 year in New Product Introduction (NPI), including participation in design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities.
  • Experience in post-release quality support, including field issue resolution, RCFA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience conveying technical and non‑technical information clearly to individuals at different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively within a cross‑functional, matrixed environment by coordinating activities, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring agreed‑upon actions are completed.
  • Experience applying structured analytical approaches to evaluate data, identify product or process issues, and recommend evidence‑based actions that enhance quality and performance.
  • Strong experience in QA tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning system such as SAP.
