Founded in 1979, ASEM has actively participated in the evolution of digital information technologies and today we operate in the markets of Industrial Automation, Test, Measurement with a complete range of industrial PCs and monitors and a complete range of HMI, control, remote assistance, and Industrial IoT gateways, characterized by our own hardware, firmware, software, mechanical and system design capability.

Software Engineer (C++ / Qt)

At ASEM, we are currently looking for a Software Engineer (C++ / Qt) to join our team. You will report to the Manager, Software Engineering, and work in a hybrid model based in our Verona or Bologna office.

Whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced professional, you will join our team of software development excellence in Verona or Bologna and contribute to innovative industrial software development using state-of-the-art technologies.

Job Summary

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for software enhancements and new products.

Technologies & Skills

  • Programming languages: C++ (primary), C#, Python
  • User interfaces: Qt for native/embedded UI
  • Operating systems & architectures: Linux / Embedded Linux / Realtime Linux, Windows; ARM and x86
  • Concurrency: Threading / multithreading, synchronization, and performance considerations
  • Version control & delivery: Git / git-flow, CI/CD, automated testing, Agile/SCRUM

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug C++ software components for new products and product enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain Qt-based native and embedded user interfaces as part of industrial software solutions.
  • Apply multithreading and concurrency concepts to ensure performance, stability, and responsiveness.
  • Contribute to software-hardware integration by assessing hardware compatibility and supporting design decisions when needed.
  • Manage assigned software components within a defined scope, including implementation, debugging, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

The Essentials

You Will Have:

  • Degree or technical diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field.
  • Professional experience with C++ programming (or strong academic background for graduate profiles).
  • Good knowledge of the English language (working proficiency).

The Preferred

You Might Also Have:

  • Experience in the Industrial Automation or embedded systems domain.
  • Experience working with Qt for native or embedded user interfaces.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Linux or Embedded Linux environments (including ARM and x86 architectures).
  • Experience with multithreading, synchronization, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile/SCRUM development practices.
