About the role

Tax is where trust is won or lost. Every calculation, filing, and payment is a promise to our customers and to the agencies they answer to. As Rippling scales into the enterprise and expands globally, the Tax Platform is mission-critical infrastructure: it must be accurate, explainable, and reliable at a level most payroll systems were never designed for.

We’re looking for a Director of Product, based in Bangalore, to lead Rippling’s Global Tax Platform team. You’ll own the end-to-end system that calculates, files, and pays taxes globally — across employees and contractors, across every country we operate in, and across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

The scope covers:

• Calculation engine, including the multi-year effort to build Tax Foundry — an AI-enabled tax calculation and policy engine that replaces our third-party dependency.
• Filings and agency communications across all jurisdictions globally.
• Tax payments and reconciliation — accurate, on-time, and fully traceable.
• Upstream data audits and self-serve resolution so issues are caught before they block filings.
• In-product explainability so every tax value can be traced to its source inputs and rules.
• Enterprise readiness — multi-entity, multi-country, equity comp, and complex tax structures at scale.

The goal is simple: no surprises. Customers should never be caught off guard by their tax data, and the team should never be pulled into reactive firefights during filing season.

What you will do

• Own the vision and execution for the Tax Platform across calculation, filing, payments, and reconciliation globally.
• Lead a team of Senior Product Leads across calculation, filings, payments, data quality, and enterprise tax.
• Drive measurable improvements in filing accuracy, on-time payment rates, weekly data accuracy, customer self-serve, and enterprise escalations.
• Make the call on Tax Foundry while maintaining a credible third-party backup plan.
• Build opinionated, configurable workflows that reduce reliance on Tax Ops and CX.
• Partner with Engineering, Tax Ops, CX, Payroll, Compliance, Legal, and GTM to align expansion with platform architecture.
• Serve as a Senior Product Leader in Bangalore, operating tightly with leadership in San Francisco.

What you will need

• Serve as a senior product leader in Bangalore, operating tightly with leadership in San Francisco.
• 12+ years of Product Management experience.
• Proven experience leading senior IC PMs across multiple teams.
• Experience owning complex, multi-surface platforms with regulatory, tax, or financial complexity.
• Strong systems thinker — you see primitives, not just features.
• Track record of shipping both 0-to-1 launches and scaled products used by large customer bases.
• Comfortable operating at multiple altitudes: strategy, architecture, UX, and execution rigor.
• Strong cross-functional leadership across engineering, tax/compliance, operations, and GTM.
• High ownership mindset — accountable for outcomes, not output.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication in a highly cross-functional, globally distributed role.
• Payroll, tax, accounting, or fintech experience is a strong plus.
• Strong alignment with our leadership principles: in particular, Go and See, and Are Right, a Lot.
