About the role

We're looking for a Portugal-based Workplace Safety Manager to drive the development and improvement of our environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices worldwide. You’ll play a central role in refining a best-in-class management system that protects our people, ensures compliance, and supports our culture of innovation.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and building a safe working environment, focusing on process standardisations
  • Leading the evolution of the global Health & Safety Management System to align with company growth
  • Ensuring compliance with local and international health and safety regulations, as well as translating legal obligations into clear company policies
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments for new and existing offices, and identifying hazards proactively through regular site reviews
  • Innovating and improving our systems by monitoring performance, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Collaborating with teams as a subject matter expert in health and safety to drive projects from initiation to completion
  • Reporting on progress against key health and safety goals

What you'll need

  • A Safety Officer certification in Portugal (Técnico Superior de Segurança no Trabalho)
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience as a Safety Manager in a global organisation
  • A deep understanding of health and safety principles, regulatory compliance, and EHS best practices
  • Solid knowledge of risk management and assessment, particularly regarding launching business in new countries
  • Impeccable strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to align safety initiatives with business objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Expertise in creating and implementing safety mission statements and strategic plans

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech
  • Familiarity with global employee safety and duty of care
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of JavaScript (automation/scripting)
