The Red Hat Image Builder team, which is a part of the Lightspeed group, is looking for an Intern interested in AI development to join us in Brno. In this role, you will work with talented engineers on creating an MCP server that provides the ability to integrate Lightspeed services with AI agents. While many engineers are in Brno, the team is distributed across multiple countries in Europe, Asia and America, offering an opportunity to experience working in a vibrant, and diverse environment. As an intern, you’ll contribute to our brand new MCP server project that leverages technologies like Python, fastmcp and Konflux. This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to participate in a project exploring how AI and Red Hat Lightspeed could transform the way system administrators perform their day-to-day tasks.
At Red Hat, you’ll work in an environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, values great ideas, and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully. Freedom and courage are two of our core values — which means you’ll have the space to take risks, explore the unknown, and grow your strengths. But being a Red Hatter is not just about bravery; it’s also about commitment and follow-through.
Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid internship based in our Brno office, typically lasting 12 months, with the possibility to extend up to 24 months. Interns work on average 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours, and the expected start date is July 1st.
What you will do:
-
Contribute to the Insights MCP server
-
Collaborate and iterate with a UX team, and product managers
-
Participate in the full software engineering process: designing, developing, writing tests and releasing to production
What you will bring:
-
You must be enrolled in a Czech university (Bachelor’s 3rd/4th year or Master’s) for the full internship duration and be able to work full-time within 2 years.
-
Working knowledge of written and spoken English
-
Curiosity about AI
-
Familiarity with Python or Go and AI clients
-
Basic understanding of SW development and CI
Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate. To maximize your chances of moving forward in the process, please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, relevant projects (link to your git.hub account), and extracurricular activities. Incomplete applications may be excluded from screening. You can find helpful tips and recommendations in this article.
Please apply to a maximum of 3 internship roles that best match your interests and skills.
