The Red Hat RHEL System Roles team is looking for an intern with an interest in or basic exposure to Ansible and Python, and a desire to learn about open source software development and automation to join us in Brno. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Engineering team to learn automation techniques, resolve bugs and defects, and help develop and test new features. You will also get a chance to actively participate in the upstream "Linux System Roles" open source community, making contributions that have real-world impact. This long-term internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in enterprise automation, open source collaboration, RHEL system management, and quality engineering practices, all within a supportive, learning-oriented environment.

At Red Hat, you’ll work in an environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, values great ideas, and empowers individuals to contribute meaningfully. Freedom and courage are two of our core values — which means you’ll have the space to take risks, explore the unknown, and grow your strengths. But being a Red Hatter is not just about bravery; it’s also about commitment and follow-through.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid internship based in our Brno office, typically lasting 12 months, with the possibility to extend up to 24 months. Interns work on average 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours, and the expected start date is July 1st.

What you will do:

  • Participate in the quality assurance and testing of RHEL system roles across multiple RHEL versions in various environments

  • Contribute to identifying, reproducing, and addressing existing defects and bugs within RHEL System Roles

  • Work on expanding, automating, and streamlining the build and release pipeline for RHEL System Roles, leveraging modern technologies like containerization and/or LLM.

What you will bring:

  • You must be enrolled in a Czech university (Bachelor’s 3rd/4th year or Master’s) for the full internship duration and be able to work full-time within 2 years.

  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English

  • Experience in development in Python and Bash scripting

  • Basic understanding of Linux operating system

  • Interest in learning new technologies; problem-solving skills.

The following are considered a plus:

  • Basic knowledge of Ansible

  • Interest or experience in Quality Engineering practices

  • Basic knowledge of git and github

Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate. To maximize your chances of moving forward in the process, please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, relevant projects (link to your git.hub account), and extracurricular activities. Incomplete applications may be excluded from screening. You can find helpful tips and recommendations in this article.

Please apply to a maximum of 3 internship roles that best match your interests and skills.
