About the Role
Collins Aerospace is looking to hire an experienced Systems Engineering Manager for the Mission Systems GETC organization. We are looking for an innovative and challenge-driven Manager with leadership and technical skills to manage the engineering development and project execution of critical and strategic programs that will enable our product lines. This involves oversight of multidisciplinary engineering activities like design, develop, enhance, integrate, test, and create real-world solutions for various communication systems products. This position is based at our Aguadilla, PR location.
Responsibilities
- Work on program sustainment and modernization efforts spanning the product lifecycle, including customer engagement, requirements definition, software/hardware development & integration, as system test & validation as well as deployment & maintenance.
- Work closely with the program team engaging engineers from systems, software, cybersecurity, and infrastructure to ensure the product delivery to the customer and end users is done with minimal impact to the operational execution.
- Support Product Owners executing the different facets of the program: sustainment, infrastructure and/or modernization.
- Lead cross-functional technical teams of software, systems, electrical and mechanical engineers demonstrating ability to mentor and manage multidisciplinary efforts from concept through delivery.
- Work directly with and manage daily activities of DSO, Data and software engineers, supporting organizations to develop, integrate, and test software or Data in an Agile development environment for software architectures.
- Develop and nurture internal and external networks, ensuring alignment and transparency with stakeholders, forging relationships with peers across RCP Engineering and Value Stream Leadership, industry partners, and third-party vendors.
- Be responsible for recruiting/hiring, resource allocation, and overall group management of systems, software, data and DSO engineers, including actively addressing employee performance and career development actions.
- Lead and interact with the engineering team using strong interpersonal, mentoring, and negotiating skills, and be responsible for managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance to Collins development processes and standard work requirements.
- Oversee and participate in the development of engineering bids and proposals.
Required Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Experience in managing programs or parts of a program including successfully managing small groups of engineers under technical guidance.
- Ability to travel up to 10% based on business need.
- Ability to obtain a Security Clearance if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience serving as a Software Lead or Systems Lead with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding project deadlines, adhering to budget constraints, and maintaining quality compliance standards.
- Direct involvement in Agile methodologies with demonstrated success in managing Agile cross-team coordination.
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Rust and Java.
- Broad understanding of system engineering principles.
