The Bridgeport, WV facility is a FAA regulated facility operating under the U.S. Departments of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our engineering team in Bridgeport, WV as a Staff Engineer. This position focuses on supporting aircraft engines through overhaul and repair processes, including but not limited to disassembly, clean line, NDT, detail inspection, assembly, and test cell. You will provide support to our engine shop and play a key role in our efficiency and ability to return engines to service in a timely manner.
To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced engineer with previous experience answering technical questions, solving complex technical problems, and providing guidance on the disposition of engines, engine parts and accessories. You will also study, develop, assess, and roll out new methods to process the engines (e.g., new inspection limits, new repairs, new methods of disassembly/assembly/test, etc.).
Work is approximately 50% in the shop and 50% at your desk. Primary workload is a mix of longer-term projects that span durations of weeks or months along with more immediate-term tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and report trends in the conditions of the engines, engine parts and accessories and engine test trends
- Implement new or revised inspection limits, modifications, repairs, etc. based on the observed trends
- Work with other departments within the broader company as required to achieve project goals
- Apply continuous improvement methodology in all tasks in an effort to improve shop processes: man-hours, turn-around time, cost of poor quality, etc.
- On an as-needed basis, provide/coordinate training on various technical topics such as rotor balancing, failure mode analysis/identification, etc.
- Work with Customer Service and Sales in the development of specifications that define the work to be performed on the engines while in the shop (e.g. how accessories are processed, what Service Bulletins to perform, how to manage life limited parts, etc.)
- Demonstrate fluency in the English language (both written and verbal)
Required Qualifications
- An Advanced Degree in Engineering or STEM field with 3+ years' experience in an MRO environment or other manufacturing setting, OR
- A Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field and 5+ years' prior relevant experience
- U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree
- Experience in continuous improvement methodology (CORE/ACE/Lean/Kaizen/Six Sigma)
- Overhaul and repair processes experience
- Previous experience in aviation/aerospace industry or other Aftermarket repair shops
- Extensive and demonstrable experience in data analysis, problem solving, and solution implementation
- Experience with PWC Turbofan and Turboprop Engines (emphasis on PW800, but also PW300, PW500, PW600, and PT6A & PT6E)
Work Environment
This role is Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $82,000 USD - $164,000 USD
The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
