About the Role

You will work in an exciting environment, directly driving the design, architecture, and development of new software systems and products utilizing technologies such as Java, C++, Angular, GraphQL, REST, Kafka, and Typescript (among many others). The software engineering manager will report to the Director of Software Engineering and serve as a supervisor within the department. You will execute in direct technical leadership roles on various programs and be responsible for a group of software engineers working on various internal and external programs. This position will engage you with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies.

What You Will Do

  • Drive the design, architecture, and development of critical capabilities in an active Agile environment
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with ability to coordinate the activities of multiple engineers working on a wide range of programs, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of solutions for the customer
  • Be adept at communicating (verbal and written) with all levels within and outside the company, ability to prepare and deliver presentations/summaries which appropriately address the intended audience
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies to increase software development productivity and support strategic product development
  • Empower engineering staff to excel by ensuring proper training, removing barriers, providing constructive feedback, as well as ensuring proper execution of organizational and department policies and procedures
  • Support proposal development, including technical solution, price, and schedule content
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Required Qualifications

  • Must have at least 8 years experience with C++ and/or Java
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: such as data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, information retrieval
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct hands on individual experience with GraphQL, REST, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Postgresql, Docker, Kubernetes, Angular, Typescript, HTML/CSS, among many other programming languages and related technologies, especially in driving the design and architecture of software applications and systems
  • Experience with Container Orchestration implementation such as Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift
  • Experience with managing cyber security processes including vulnerability assessments
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, empathetic leadership style
  • Background in hiring, onboarding, and building a collaborative team culture
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance
