About the Role

Collins Aerospace Additive Design and Manufacturing (ADaM) team is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer for its Singapore Additive manufacturing facility. The Lead Quality Engineer will be the onsite quality focal, driving the implementation of strategic quality initiatives and accelerating the maturation of the Quality Management System. The successful candidate for the role is an effective, independent leader who is a self-driven problem solver. They will lead and support Operations and Product Quality including, but not limited to, New Product Introduction, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Quality Control, Quality Compliance (as applicable), Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Performance Management. This role will require the ability to interface with the US and Singapore Quality organizations to drive integration of Collins and ADaM quality initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary onsite quality representative and interface for customers, internal stakeholder and suppliers (as applicable) ensuring products and services meet quality requirements and standards.
  • Lead site quality operations, coordinating Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) consistent of operations, engineering and the metallurgical lab to drive problem resolution and implement process improvements and controls.
  • Partner and collaborate with global ADaM process owners and leadership before or after work hours as needed.
  • Lead the development, implementation and improvement of the ADaM Quality Management System (QMS). Revise QMS policies and procedures as needed to reflect process changes and improvements.
  • Define, map and implement the site Quality Control process ensuring controls are implemented for metrology inspection per applicable requirements.
  • Manage the First Article Inspection (FAI) process, ensuring compliance to AS9102 and internal requirements.
  • Define inspection criteria and develop inspection plans, sampling plans, and measurement methodologies for the production process in partnership with Metallurgical Lab.
  • Establish Statistical Process Control (SPC) in collaboration with Engineering to monitor and control inspection processes and improve process capability.
  • Lead Escape Management activities; Own and manage Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process using the 8D methodology; Provide oversight for RCCA owners and teams to ensure processes are executive to the RCCA standard work and completed per target dates.
  • Implement APQP implementation per AS9145, as applicable, in partnership with engineering teams.; Serve as primary owner and contact for New Product Introduction quality processes (requirements reviews, compliance matrices, risk assessments, etc.).
  • Establish the site Quality Clinic ensuring processes are executed per Collins and ADaM requirements; Develop and report quality metrics (Part Per Million PPM), On Time Delivery, COPQ, etc.).
  • Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) activities, ensuring timely disposition, containment and corrective actions.
  • Manage the site calibration program for all Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) coordinating with equipment and process owners.
  • Analyze, validate and approve inspection data and reports; utilize data analysis methods and tools and generate detail reports for cross functional leadership.
  • Serve as the primary owner, reviewer and approver of SAP and MES (Solumina) setups and plans for quality processes.
  • Support Quality Approval Supplier List (QASL) processes ensuring key inputs are provided to the Supplier Quality organization.
  • Ensure onsite supplier controls are implemented per Collins and ADaM requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires University Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years prior experience
  • Working experience with a Quality Management System (i.e. AS9100, ISO 9001, etc.).
  • Working experience leading operations/product quality activities independently in a manufacturing environment; Ability to manage tasks and initiatives with limited oversight.
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence other business functions, including operations, engineering, etc.
  • Working experience with drawings/specs and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Thorough knowledge of advanced metrology inspection techniques (CMM, 3D scanning, etc.)
  • Working experience with APQP (Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), PFMEA, etc.)
  • Working experience with Material Review Boards (MRB).
  • Working experience with Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs) and applying quality methodology and tools (8D or similar).
  • Working experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Working experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) system plans (i.e. SAP, Solumina, etc.)
  • Working experience writing, revising and maintaining Quality Management System (QMS) documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) or similar per internal and external requirements and standards.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Functional leadership experience in Operations or Product Quality Engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Certification or similar.
  • Formal ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 training and certification.
  • Working experience with risk & opportunity management, assessment and mitigation.
  • Working experience developing and executing process audits.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical lab testing and analysis or similar
  • Experience training personnel on quality processes, procedures and/or tools.
  • Working experience applying and leading Lean continuous improvement methods and tools (Gemba, 5S, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Experience leading and managing complex projects.
