Rohr Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Manager, General Engineering in Chula Vista, CA.
Responsibilities
- Resolve highly complex technical projects and issues requiring creativity and ingenuity in supporting airline operational requirements, formal certification reports, and design changes
- Develop standards, processes and methods and provide guidance to staff to help the team provide solutions, build capabilities, and continuous improvement
- Lead projects for productivity improvement
- Provide guidance to a team of junior and senior engineers on requirements, regulations and standard work related to the development and approval of repair solutions
- Perform mechanical engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines and relate aircraft structures
- Perform research, design and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes, applying advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
- Formulate structural analysis of components and define, direct, and document structural test efforts to assess the structural integrity of metallic and non-metallic products
- Handle escalated and unresolved customer issues
- Address complaints, issues, and other complex inquiries directly with customers
- Provide guidance and recommendations on how to resolve customer situations
- Provide technical review of customer damage reports to determine repair options
- Supervise 4 reports, including a Principal Engineer, Structural Engineering; Principal Engineer, Design Engineering; Principal Engineer, General Engineering; and a Senior Engineer, General Engineering
Qualifications
You Must Have:

Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 10 years of progressive experience as a Stress Analyst or related role working on aircraft or nacelle structural components
OR
-
Master's degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 7 years of experience as a Stress Analyst or related role working on aircraft or nacelle structural components

At least 7 years of experience with repair analysis of aircraft Nacelle Structures metallic and/or composite structures
-
At least 7 years of experience with static and fatigue analysis of aircraft nacelle structures and mechanical/aerospace FEA tools (Patran/Nastran)
-
At least 7 years of experience with maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry

At least 2 years of experience leading a technical team

Work Arrangement
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Compensation
The salary range is $159,640.00 to $275,000.00 USD per year. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
