The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for development and production support across multiple programs. This position is on-site and located in Louisville, KY.

This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineer in an individual contributor role, responsibilities will include:

  • Technical execution of tasks
  • Recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers
  • Contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues post critical design activities
  • Preparing data-driven decisions with technical justification analysis reports
  • Presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards
  • Commitment to program schedule and budget
  • 3D parametric modeling

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Two years' experience in mechanical design and/or design documentation
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Note: An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics, principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
  • Proficient in CREO (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)
  • Active DoD issued security clearance

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $68,900 USD - $131,100 USD

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Work Arrangement

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.
