As part of the audio software global development team at Qualcomm, you will have the opportunity to work with an international team of hardware, systems, and software engineers to develop and integrate cutting edge audio technology on DSP platforms powered by Qualcomm So Cs. Qualcomm So Cs provide integrated solutions for smart phone, computing, entertainment, automotive, connectivity, and IoT products worldwide. Audio software team drives the feature design, development, integration, and commercialization of audio software and applications on Qualcomms Snapdragon processors. Seeking passionate, ambitious, and technically gifted software engineers for developing embedded audio and voice software for smart phones, smart speakers, smart assistants, smart media boxes, and a wide array of other smart devices for the mobile, compute, connectivity, automotive, and IoT product spaces. At the same time, Qualcomm audio software team, as technology leader, is embarking on a journey to expand its contribution to open source ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to be part of the initiative to build up Audio ReachTM open source project from infancy and engage with developers from broader audio software ecosystem in order to gain wider community support for the project. Please note this role will require 5 days per week onsite in our Cork office

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR
  Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  OR
  PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8+ years of Embedded Software development with relevant industry experience.
• Excellent C/C++ programming, Python and other scripting language skills with proven experience of writing efficient code for embedded systems and multi-threaded environments.
• Knowledge of software design patterns and multi-threaded programming.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, real time operating systems, data structures, and basic algorithms.
• Understanding of power, memory and performance considerations on embedded systems.
• Background and experience in several of the following areas Expertise in embedded driver development and debugging.
• Expertise in use of various debug tools and techniques.
• Experience in optimization techniques for memory and performance.
• Expertise developing and debugging software on ARM/DSP, or other embedded, processors and So Cs.

Multimedia/Audio Experience

• Expertise in Multimedia or Audio software framework design and development.
• Experienced in audio usage models including playback, recording, voice activation, voice call, audio context detection
• Familiar with standard audio bus interfaces (I2S, TDM, Sound Wire)
• Familiar with driver development for audio mixed signal peripherals (CODEC, speaker amp, digital microphone)

DSP experience

• Expertise in designing and optimizing audio DSP pipelines across heterogeneous compute (CPU/DSP/NPU), considering latency, power, and memory trade-offs.
• Knowledgeable in real-time audio signal processing and fixed-point/floating point arithmetic
• Experienced in integration of audio signal chain from capture to playback, including IPC, buffer management, and synchronization across OS and DSP frameworks

Open Source Experience

• Passionate contributor or maintainer of established open source projects such as Pipe Wire, ALSA, and etc.
• Understand open source community development, engagement, and upstreaming workflow

Experienced in both open source & product commercialization process
