Role / Skills / Exp

The successful candidate will operate as a member of the CHS Component Engineering team. Responsibilities include reviewing third party XR/AI component datasheets for accuracy, working with suppliers to find XR/AI component solutions, working with suppliers to develop custom XR/AI thermal solutions, XR/AI IC solutions, XR/AICS Platform roadmap. Daily responsibilities include working with the Qualcomm Core XR/AI Technology Teams, XR/AI Component Suppliers, IT, Sourcing, and coordinating a Global network of 3rd Party XR/AI activities across Qualcomm’s Global Engineer Community.

• Responsible for responding to XR/AI component requirements.
• Obtain and Review XR/AI component datasheets for accuracy, completeness and best in class alignment with Qualcomm Platform Requirements.
• Create Material Control Numbers (MCNs) for electrical and non-electrical components for Qualcomm’s component database.
• Validate requests to make changes to existing MCNs.
• Communicate and interact with XR/AI Component Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs, suppliers) to develop Custom Component Solutions, as Qualcomm is always creating the New and Different, requiring New and Different XR/AI solutions.
• Communicate and interact with Component Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs, suppliers) for samples and additional information not provided within OTS (Off the Shelf) datasheets.
• Interact with Component Engineers, Engineers, Pd Ms, Pg Ms, OEMs, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Planning, Support Engineering and Configuration Management.
• Work with XR/AI hardware development and test teams to guide component selection and drive supplier’s custom development aligned with application, function, cost, and schedule.
• Work with hardware designers to comprehend new product needs, perform industry component searches and if required create mini specifications based on unique requirements. Work with the design team and the suppliers to evaluate, iterate and integrate new products into platform designs.
• Quickly assimilate into existing projects and work with internal customers to support fast-moving design schedules.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to communicate clearly, organize effectively and work with cross functional teams across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Strong multi-discipline engineering, technical, analytical skills.
• Understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts and solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSEE with Electrical or Component Engineering experience.
• 2+ years Hardware Engineering experience designing x86 or Snapdragon HW.
• Familiar with COTS XR/AI/Smart Glasses Interfaces.
• Proficient with all MS Office 365 Tools.
• Understanding of how to use AI to efficiently solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Component Engineer in the XR/AI Industry, and/or IC Supplier FAE to the XR/AI ODM/OEMs.
• Familiarity with Mixed Reality and AI/Smart Glasses ecosystem.
• Knowledge base of key component suppliers.
• 2+ years Field Applications Engineer experience working with XR/AI components.
• BSEE with EE experience.
• Experience in Agile or similar PLM software.
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Proficient with Visio
• Proficient with all MS Office 365 Tools
• Understanding of how to use AI to efficiently solve problems.

Education Requirements

• BS Electrical Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. OR
  Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
  OR
  PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
