Merchandise Planner

The Team

Within our Omni Planning & Allocation team, the mission is to drive commercial performance through strong financial planning, demand forecasting, and smart allocation & replenishment across all channels and categories. The team sets the strategic guardrails for promotions and markdown decisions, ensuring margin and profitability are maximized.

As the backbone of the department, the team works closely with Buying & Merchandising, DTC Channels (e Com, Full Price, Outlet), Regional Hubs, and Finance to ensure all inventory and product decisions are aligned with company-wide planning strategies.

The Role

As a Merchandise Planner, you are responsible for developing and executing merchandise financial and inventory plans across Full Price, Outlet or e Commerce channels for selected product categories or divisions.

You work closely with Trade, Buying and Branch Planning teams to ensure alignment across sales, margin and inventory targets. Your contribution directly supports operational excellence and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandise Planning

Develop merchandise plans including inventory buy targets, seasonal sales and margin targets

Partner with commercial planning and buying strategy teams to ensure alignment

Seasonal Reviews

Conduct hindsight analysis and define forward strategies with Buying counterparts

Store & Channel Reviews

Prepare store clusters based on store types, capacity grading and location needs

Align with Branch Planning and e Commerce planning teams

Buying Budget & Quantification

Develop buying budgets to meet sales and stock targets

Review and finalize SKU-level buy quantities ahead of deadlines

Allocation & Replenishment

Optimize initial allocation and seasonal/NOS replenishment frameworks

Prepare monthly NOS demand plans based on trends and stock levels

Open-to-Buy Management

Manage WSSI forecasting and monitor in-season performance

Identify risks and opportunities, driving actions to maximize profitability

Promotions & Markdown

Define financial guardrails and discount strategies

Balance margin protection with inventory clearance objectives

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to system and process enhancements to increase team efficiency

Measures of Success

Delivery of net sales and net margin in line with targets

Strong stock management (stock turn)

High planning accuracy across merchandise plans

Requirements

3–5+ years’ experience in merchandise planning, financial planning, branch planning or commercial planning within fashion, retail or consumer goods

Strong understanding of merchandise planning, markdown and promotion management

Commercial and results-driven mindset

Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills

Effective stakeholder management across cross-functional teams

Experience managing omni-channel inventory flows and demand forecasting

Knowledge of planning systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)

Strong problem-solving skills

Highly adaptable and proactive

Fluent in English

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Retail preferred

Interest in relocating to the Netherlands and joining our Amsterdam-based team
