Your Team
As a Director, Tech Lead on the Reinsurance Technology team, you will partner with product owners, designers, engineers, business experts, and delivery professionals to advance Prudential’s multiyear transformation of reinsurance data, platforms, and operational capabilities.
You will provide architectural guidance, technical strategy, and hands-on engineering leadership to deliver scalable, secure, modern solutions that elevate reinsurance technology and align with enterprise standards.
This role requires deep technical acumen, strong leadership, communication skills, modern engineering experience, and the ability to coach and influence teams across functions.
**Hybrid Work Arrangement-**Minimum 3 days per week in office in Newark, NJ.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Design & Strategy
- Work closely with business experts and fellow technologists to develop, communicate and execute a technology strategy that supports reinsurance transformation objectives including modernization, automation, and improved data quality and transparency.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects on the design and technical direction for reinsurance solutions, ensuring we deliver scalable, secure, cloud‑aligned technology that is compliant with enterprise standards.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and leadership
Engineering Execution & Delivery
- Deliver complex technical solutions that advance the reinsurance technology roadmap
- Provide direction, coaching, and oversight to engineering team—including developers, analysts, and offshore partners—ensuring high‑quality execution, adherence to modern engineering practices, and reliable delivery.
- Leverage AI development tools to accelerate delivery
- Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and solution walkthroughs to ensure technical rigor and elevate the overall engineering discipline.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and knowledge sharing within engineering team
- Model “player‑coach” leadership: contribute hands‑on engineering while empowering others to solve problems and grow their technical capabilities.
Integration & Platform Development
- Design and implement key components such as data ingestion pipelines, tagging/rules engines, journaling/subledger integrations, workflow and portal capabilities, and analytics‑ready data structures.
- Ensure integration patterns follow modern API, microservices, and event‑driven paradigms, with an emphasis on reusability and domain standardization.
- Champion cloud‑ready engineering, security by design, and performance optimization across the reinsurance technology ecosystem.
Data, Analytics & Governance Enablement
- Partner with the Global Reinsurance Data Office to advance governed, transparent, and high‑quality data domains.
- Ensure data lineage, metadata, tagging frameworks, and data quality controls are embedded across technology solutions.
- Enable downstream analytics by designing solutions that improve data accessibility and maintain consistency across reinsurance processes.
Operational Excellence & Risk Reduction
- Implement technical and operational safeguards, including secure access patterns, audit readiness, and resilient system designs.
- Proactively identify risks, issues, and technical debt, and drive remediation activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of progressive engineering experience with at least 3+ years in a lead or architectural role.
- Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), APIs, microservices, event‑driven design, CI/CD, and modern engineering toolchains.
- Hands‑on experience building and optimizing data ecosystems, particularly in the insurance and/or financial services industry.
- Understanding of reinsurance business concepts is preferred.
- Strong communication, influencing, and technical leadership skills.

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $158,800.00 to $238,200.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.-
