Overview

Conducts complex data analysis to support application development efforts. Maintains data models and their linkages to existing and future database designs to assure consistency and support reusability of data structures and data transactions.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains data models including entity relationship diagrams and state transition diagrams as necessary to support data analysis efforts and application design efforts. Models include all supporting meta data, requirements and documentation.
• Participates independently in requirements sessions to ascertain data requirements from business representatives for a wide range of complex projects.
• Maps data to User Interface designs and process specifications to insure that data objects are architected correctly to support accurate and efficient retrieval and update of information.
• Cross checks business requirements to data models to insure the compatibility and comprehensiveness of models and requirements for application development projects. Takes corrective action with responsible teams when issues are found.
• Leads or participates in data requirements inspections and reviews to insure that logical data models are consistent with business requirements and designers understand the proposed data constructs.
• Works collaboratively with developers and database administrators to integrate data requirements into system designs to insure that designs meet user requirements for functionality and performance. Assesses the impacts of design decisions on business functionality so that informed decisions can be reached.
• Maintains the integrity of data models by integrating new requirements and changes for assigned projects. Insures that logical data models are synchronized with physical designs and physical designs are consistent with production databases to provide traceability from requirements through production implementation.
• Publishes models to Paychex enterprise architecture intranet sites so that they are available to the larger IT community.
• Profiles data to identify discrepancies and anomalies within and across databases. With business data owners, determines whether cleansing is required. Identifies and documents cleansing rules if necessary.
• May be identified as the data tools administrator to insure that modeling and cleansing tools are managed and updated appropriately. In this role, acts as primary interface to vendor to report problems and follows up through resolution. Mentors less experienced staff to insure their success on assigned projects upon request.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
• Preferred
• 3 years of experience in Data analysis or Related field. Experience with SQL based databases (Oracle and Sql Server). Experienced using SQL query language, Logical Data Modeling. Experience with data modeling tools Working .

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $76,000.00 - $119,400.00 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
