Job Summary
As a Sr. Staff DevOps Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will be a cornerstone in architecting the tooling and frameworks for our massive hybrid-cloud ecosystem. Your mission is to push the boundaries of infrastructure efficiency, performance, and security through high-level automation and visionary architectural design. You will be expected to master and integrate a diverse tech stack including Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Python, and Go to solve enterprise-scale challenges and protect our digital way of life.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of production and pre-production systems.
Spearhead the transition to autonomous operational processes using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and sophisticated CI/CD pipelines.
Define and govern SLIs/SLOs/SLAs to ensure rigorous service standards and measurable reliability improvements.
Build and oversee comprehensive observability ecosystems, integrating metrics, logging, and distributed tracing.
Proactively collaborate with developers and security experts to bake resilience and fault tolerance into product designs.
Design, deploy, and operate secure, high-availability cloud infrastructure while aggressively optimizing for cost and efficiency.
Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, driving post-incident reviews and root cause analysis.
Mentor junior and senior engineers, championing a high-performance DevOps culture and leading complex design reviews.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
Expertise in managing distributed and autoscaled applications in Kubernetes clusters.
Expertise in configuration management and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or similar frameworks.
Extensive experience managing hyper-scale environments within GCP or AWS.
Proficiency in a high-level programming language such as Python or Golang to build custom tooling and automate workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab or GitHub Actions.
A proven ability to dissect and debug complex distributed systems handling high-volume, mission-critical transactions.
Strong Linux administration, internals, and network troubleshooting skills.
