Job Summary As a Principal Consulting Engineer focused on Strata security engineering, you are a senior technical authority responsible for the design, deployment, optimization, and operational excellence of Palo Alto Networks security platforms. You lead complex customer and internal environments across Prisma Access and Next Generation Firewalls, ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient architectures. You operate at a strategic level, influencing architecture standards and best practices while serving as an escalation point for the most complex technical challenges. Key Responsibilities- Serve as the technical authority interacting directly with customer personnel and project teams, responsible for both implementation and mentoring customer staff. - Architect and lead large-scale Strata security deployments, including Prisma Access, Panorama managed NGFWs, and hybrid cloud environments. - Design secure and scalable architectures using Prisma Access for remote users, mobile users, and branch connectivity, including service connections and multi-region designs. - Provide technical leadership for NGFW implementations, including PA-Series hardware, VM-Series, CN-Series, and cloud-native firewalls. - Maintain implemented solutions and provide guidance on code upgrades, platform changes, and new technology developments. - Act as a technical escalation authority for complex security, networking, and performance issues, applying advanced problem-solving skills to resolve root causes. - Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and optimization workshops for enterprise and strategic customers. - Proactively collaborate with and mentor senior engineers and field teams on advanced Strata architectures and troubleshooting techniques. Qualifications Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years of hands-on experience with network and security solutions, including routing, switching, security appliances, and virtual machines. - Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining security solutions in large-scale production environments. - Expertise deploying or operating two or more of the following: Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), VM-Series (AWS and/or Azure), or Prisma Access. - Strong skills in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing, TCP/IP networking, OSPF, IPSec VPN, and NAT. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with public cloud providers, including AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Familiarity with Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), PAN-OS SD-WAN, or Strata Cloud Manager (SCM). - Detailed technical experience in the installation, configuration, and operation of high-end firewall appliances. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and technical peers.
