Director, Turbine Operations
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) powers Oracle’s global cloud services through highly available, large-scale, enterprise-grade data center environments. The Data Center Infrastructure Operations / Facilities team plays a critical role in sustaining OCI’s performance, security, and operational resilience by ensuring infrastructure systems operate reliably at scale. You will join a technically rigorous organization with a culture grounded in operational excellence, disciplined processes, and continuous improvement, where infrastructure reliability, safety, and execution quality are foundational to delivering cloud services worldwide.
Role Overview:
The Director of Turbine Operations is responsible for leading the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of turbine-based power generation assets supporting OCI’s energy resilience strategy. This role provides operational leadership across turbine plants, ensuring high availability, regulatory compliance, and optimized lifecycle performance of generation assets.
The Director will lead plant operations teams while partnering closely with construction, maintenance, engineering, and site operations organizations to ensure generation capacity meets the reliability requirements of OCI’s data center infrastructure. The role also supports fuel procurement strategy, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and coordination with utilities and regulators to ensure long-term operational stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant Operations Leadership
- Lead day-to-day operations of turbine generation facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous power generation.
- Build, develop, and manage high-performing plant operations teams responsible for turbine operations, maintenance coordination, and plant reliability.
- Establish operational standards, procedures, and training programs for turbine plant personnel.
- Drive a culture of operational excellence, safety, and accountability across all generation sites.
Reliability & Performance
- Ensure turbine assets achieve high availability and reliability targets supporting critical infrastructure operations.
- Monitor plant performance, availability, heat rate, and operational KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to optimize preventative maintenance programs and minimize forced outages.
- Oversee incident investigations and root cause analysis to improve long-term asset performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with operations, construction, and maintenance teams to support commissioning, startup, and integration of new turbine assets.
- Partner with engineering teams on lifecycle management, upgrades, and plant optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate with site operations and reliability teams to ensure plant generation aligns with data center load requirements.
Fuel & Commercial Management
- Support natural gas procurement strategy and coordinate fuel supply agreements to ensure consistent and cost effective plant operations.
- Participate in the review and management of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and energy supply contracts.
- Work with utilities and grid operators to coordinate generation capacity and grid interconnection requirements.
Compliance, Safety & Governance
- Ensure all plant operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to EH&S standards and company safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, emissions standards, and operational reporting requirements.
- Maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies and utilities.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $139,400 to $291,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 15+ years of experience in power generation operations, preferably in gas turbine or combined cycle plants.
- Proven leadership experience managing plant operations teams in mission-critical or utility scale environments.
- Deep understanding of turbine operations, plant controls, fuel systems, and generation reliability.
- Experience supporting gas procurement, fuel supply management, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
- Strong experience working across operations, construction, engineering, and maintenance organizations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated leadership managing complex generation operations and plant teams.
- Strong operational decision-making in high-reliability environments.
- Ability to balance plant reliability, operational efficiency, and cost management.
- Strong stakeholder management with utilities, regulators, OEMs, and internal leadership teams.
- Experience implementing safety programs, operational governance, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
