
Senior Director – BMS/EMPS Controls Design & Strategy at Oracle
About the role
This executive leadership role will define the future of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical/Mechanical Plant Management Systems (EMPS) for OCI’s hyperscale and GW-scale data center platforms. You will drive global standardization, software architecture, controls integration, operational intelligence, and automation strategies that enable world-class reliability, scalability, efficiency, and speed of deployment.
You will lead cross-functional engineering teams and partner closely with mechanical, electrical, network, software, operations, commissioning, manufacturing, and supply chain organizations to establish a unified controls ecosystem supporting OCI’s next generation infrastructure.
This is a highly visible role with broad influence across OCI engineering strategy, technology roadmaps, vendor ecosystems, and long-term infrastructure innovation.
What You’ll Do Strategy & Technical Leadership:
- Define and lead the global strategy for BMS and EMPS controls architecture across OCI’s GW-scale data center portfolio
- Establish long-term controls and automation roadmaps supporting hyperscale cloud and AI infrastructure growth
- Develop standardized controls philosophies, architectures, software frameworks, and operational models for global deployments
- Drive the evolution of intelligent, software-driven infrastructure management platforms focused on resiliency, automation, telemetry, and operational efficiency
- Lead technical direction for advanced controls integration across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and critical infrastructure systems
Standards & Global Design Governance:
- Establish global engineering standards, design guidelines, software requirements, and integration protocols for BMS/EMPS systems
- Drive consistency and scalability across regions, vendors, and deployment models while balancing local regulatory requirements
- Define controls cybersecurity, data integrity, alarming, telemetry, and redundancy standards for mission-critical operations
- Create governance models for controls software lifecycle management, versioning, validation, and deployment practices
Software & Controls Platform Development:
- Lead the development and integration strategy for next-generation controls software platforms, automation systems, and analytics capabilities
- Drive adoption of intelligent monitoring, predictive analytics, automated optimization, and AI-driven operational controls
- Partner with software engineering teams to define data architectures, APIs, visualization platforms, and enterprise integration strategies
- Establish scalable approaches for fleet-wide controls management, remote operations, and digital infrastructure visibility
Vendor & Product Strategy:
- Lead evaluation, qualification, and strategic selection of global controls vendors, hardware platforms, and software technologies
- Influence supplier roadmaps and partner with manufacturers to drive innovation aligned with OCI’s long-term infrastructure strategy
- Develop vendor qualification standards, interoperability requirements, and performance benchmarks
- Build strategic partnerships that accelerate deployment speed, operational reliability, and technology advancement
Organizational Leadership
- Build and lead high-performing global engineering teams focused on controls design, software integration, and operational innovation
- Drive collaboration across design engineering, operations, commissioning, manufacturing, construction, and software organizations
- Establish scalable engineering processes that support rapid global infrastructure growth
- Mentor and develop technical leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $141,200 to $338,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

What We’re Looking For
- Deep expertise in BMS, EMPS, SCADA, PLC, or mission-critical controls systems within hyperscale data centers, industrial infrastructure, or large-scale critical facilities
- Proven experience developing global engineering standards and controls architectures for large-scale infrastructure deployments
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical plant operations, thermal systems, power infrastructure, and mission-critical reliability requirements
- Experience leading controls software strategy, automation platforms, telemetry systems, and operational analytics initiatives
- Demonstrated success managing complex cross-functional engineering programs and large technical organizations
- Strong vendor management and product evaluation experience across controls hardware and software ecosystems
- Exceptional strategic thinking, technical leadership, communication, and organizational influence skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, highly technical environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale or GW-scale data center infrastructure
- Familiarity with AI/HPC infrastructure operational requirements and high-density cooling environments
- Experience with digital twins, advanced analytics, machine learning, or autonomous infrastructure operations
- Knowledge of global regulatory and compliance standards related to controls systems and critical infrastructure
- Background in cloud infrastructure, industrial automation, or large-scale critical facilities engineering
