Join NVIDIA’s innovative team as a Research Scientist in Optical Networking and help develop the future of 6G network architectures! We are advancing next-generation network technologies to support flexible, scalable, and intelligent connectivity across distributed cloud and edge environments. At NVIDIA, you will work with a dedicated and cooperative team leading 6G and optical networking research. This role turns groundbreaking research into tangible results. This opportunity allows you to contribute to an ambitious project focused on creating efficient topology management systems for real-time orchestration and control of complex network fabrics.
What you'll be doing:

Build and develop a lightweight Layer 1 (L1) topology manager using efficient data structures such as lookup tables and key-value stores.

Build a Layer 2 (L2) topology manager to model cluster-level connectivity and underlying network fabrics.
-
Contribute to the architecture and implementation of topology services within an ambitious collaborative research project.

Work together on combining topology management with orchestration and control systems in cloud-native and AI cluster environments.

Work closely with a dedicated team of researchers and engineers to advance 6G and optical networking technologies.

Explore new ideas and translate innovative research into impactful real-world applications.
What we need to see:

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated expertise in optical networking and topology management.
-
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or similar.

Experience with data structures and algorithms, particularly in the context of network management.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a research-focused environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

Experience with AI and cloud-native environments.

Familiarity with Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) systems.

Previous contributions to collaborative research projects.

Strong publication record in relevant fields.
