Our mission is to ensure the seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes across all NVIDIA products. As a pivotal part of our team, you will contribute to the advancement of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, alongside spearheading initiatives to incorporate Manufacturing for Design (MFD) solutions. Your role involves fostering a collaborative environment with NVIDIA's hardware engineering teams, component suppliers, and Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEM), to devise comprehensive manufacturing solutions using industry best practice from the concept design phase through to mass production.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Perform detailed DFM and DFA analysis and liaison to NVIDIA hardware development team and provide manufacturing solutions.
-
Lead the identification and resolution of manufacturability challenges that are or might adversely affect manufacturing readiness, applying risk management techniques to optimize production processes.
-
Collaborate with mechanical/thermal suppliers and CEMs to establish manufacturing specifications as well as expectations, enhancing product design and manufacturability synchronously.
-
Lead the development of assembly fixtures and jigs, analyze and validate assembly processes step-by-step to ensure quality and efficiency.
-
Address frontline production issues, failure analysis, drive corrective actions, conduct manufacturing R&D activities, and champion “manufacturing for design” technology readiness to support NVIDIA innovations.
-
Advocate for technological advancements and design modifications to optimize manufacturing quality and efficiency (find yield improvement opportunities).
-
Manage system assembly gap/step and cosmetic appearance improvement.
-
System assembly automation analysis, time and motion study, cycle time reduction.
What we need to see:
-
This position requires the ability to visualize and clarify product system assembly needs through design for manufacturing optimization.
-
Self-motivated, strong work ethic
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience, backed by 5+ years in thermal/mechanical design and manufacturing.
-
Practical knowledge in metallurgy/plastics, solid mechanics, material selection, and their implications on electrical contacts.
-
Demonstrated capacity for leading multiple aspects of product manufacturing development, employing a hands-on approach to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), while simultaneously exhibiting the ability to analyze problems from various perspectives and devise innovative solutions.
-
Knowledgeable of commonly used manufacturing technologies, good awareness of thermal challenges and working knowledge of basic electrical circuits.
-
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo) and a robust understanding of manufacturing technologies, thermal challenges, and basic electrical circuits.
-
Strong project management skills, with a keen ability to communicate effectively across teams.
-
Solid understanding of commonly used mechanical/thermal testing & inspection method and instrument.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
-
Ability to learn quickly and operate outside of comfort zone
-
Experience in functional tolerancing, GD&T, SPC, system assembly/testing, and a solid grasp of NPI processes.
