Focused on licensing its proprietary Level 4 driving system, Nuro Driver, to automakers and mobility providers.
Software Technical Program Manager - Systems Integration
Who We Are
Nuro is a self-driving technology company on a mission to make autonomy accessible to all. Founded in 2016, Nuro is building the world’s most scalable driver, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware. Nuro licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver™, to support a wide range of applications, from robotaxis and commercial fleets to personally owned vehicles. With technology proven over years of self-driving deployments, Nuro gives the automakers and mobility platforms a clear path to AVs at commercial scale, empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future.
About the Role:
At Nuro, safety isn't a checklist - it's the foundation of everything we build. We're looking for a Systems Safety TPM who can operate at the intersection of functional safety standards, platform integration, and cross-disciplinary engineering to help us deliver a vehicle that earns public trust every mile it drives.
In this role, you'll own safety program execution across hardware, embedded software, and controls domains - translating ISO 26262 requirements into actionable plans, driving functional safety artifacts from concept through validation, and ensuring our safety case is rigorous, traceable, and audit-ready.
About the Work:
Safety Program Management:
-
Lead end-to-end program execution for functional safety workstreams, coordinating across Controls, HW, and Embedded SW teams.
-
Develop and maintain program schedules, risk registers, and cross-functional dependency maps to ensure on-time delivery of safety milestones.
-
Own tracking and closure of safety-related action items, open points, and audit findings across the vehicle platform.
Functional Safety & Standards
-
Drive the development, review, and maintenance of Functional Safety Requirements (FSRs) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs) in alignment with ISO 26262.
-
Support HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment), FMEA, FTA, and safety goal derivation processes in collaboration with systems safety engineers.
-
Ensure safety work products are complete, consistent, and compliant with applicable ASIL targets (A–D).
Platform Integration, Testing & Validation
-
Partner with integration and validation teams to define safety-relevant test strategies for platform-level and system-level verification.
-
Track coverage of safety requirements through integration testing, including HIL/SIL environments and vehicle-level validation activities.
-
Identify and escalate gaps between safety requirements and test coverage; drive resolution with engineering owners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Serve as the connective tissue between Safety, Controls, HW, and Embedded SW — translating safety requirements into engineering deliverables and vice versa.
-
Facilitate technical reviews (safety plan reviews, work product assessments, confirmation reviews) and ensure timely stakeholder alignment.
-
Interface with internal and external functional safety assessors as needed.
About You
-
4–6 years of experience in systems engineering, safety engineering, or technical program management in automotive, AV, robotics, or adjacent domains.
-
Hands-on familiarity with ISO 26262 processes and work products (FSR, TSR, HARA, FMEA, safety plans, etc.).
-
Experience working across at least two of: Controls, Hardware, or Embedded Software disciplines.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-team programs with competing priorities and tight timelines.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize technical complexity for mixed audiences.
Bonus Points
-
Experience with SOTIF (ISO 21448) or other complementary safety standards (IEC 61508, UL 4600).
-
Familiarity with safety tooling (e.g., PTC Integrity, Jama Connect, DOORS, or similar requirements management tools).
-
Background in hardware/software integration testing, HIL/SIL validation, or vehicle-level testing.
-
TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification or equivalent is a plus.

Nuro Hikari and double NATing
Anyone here uses their own router with Nuro hikari? I read that it's necessary to use their modem/router and that if I want to use my own router I would either need to bridge, which might be restricted or double NAT which poses difficulties of it's own. Anybody with experience with this. I'm wondering if I should switch over from Softbank for the better speeds but I don't want to make networking more complex than it needs to be. Thanks for any input
