Strong financial governance is central to how we deliver on that mission, and we're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Business Management team and play a key role in our financial reporting and compliance activities.
Your Role:
Reporting to the Reporting and Analysis Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the consolidation and preparation of internal and external financial reporting while owning end-to-end accounting processes for assigned segment accounts. You'll work collaboratively with Australian and US stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial outcomes in a regulated Defence environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering month-end close activities including journals, reconciliations, and management reporting
Preparing and analysing Profit & Loss and balance sheet accounts, including variance and trend analysis
Supporting US SOX reporting requirements and statutory financial reporting obligations
Preparing payroll journals and analysing timesheet costs to ensure accurate financial recording
Responding to financial queries through detailed analysis and interpretation of data
Supporting internal and external audit processes and regulatory reporting
Partnering with program and business stakeholders to support cost control and commercial outcomes
Applying a continuous improvement mindset to enhance financial processes and controls
Supporting ad-hoc projects and broader Business Management team activities as required

About You:
You are a motivated and analytical finance professional with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail. You're comfortable managing multiple priorities and enjoy working collaboratively across teams.
You will bring:
A degree qualification in Accounting or a related discipline
Experience in financial accounting, management reporting, and month-end close processes
Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA security clearance Strong analytical skills with advanced spreadsheet capability
The ability to interpret and explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, independent working style with a commitment to meeting deadlines
Experience working with financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, and/or Power BI
CA or CPA qualification (or working towards) is highly regarded
