As a Process Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.
The Process Engineer is responsible for establishment and execution of all technical aspects of Development, Qualification, and Operation of the use of robots to perform energic processes on rocket motors. The Process Engineer will perform and administer all aspects associated with execution, coordination and development of current and future projects involving the programming and use of robotic equipment. Provide technical expertise on development of energetic production techniques, cost estimation, and process design and automation. You will also be expected to have working knowledge of Fanuc robot capabilities and operation eventually becoming the subject matter expert.
This position will work a 4/10 schedule.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
-
Primarily working with the operation and basic programming of Fanuc robots.
-
Develop processes to craft energetic materials using robotic technologies.
-
Provide support to other robotic personnel for robotic process development.
-
Administer and coordinate the use of the Fanuc robots amongst various programmers and programs.
-
Presentation of data and recommendations to internal and external customers.
-
Ability to Travel expectation of 5% – 10%
-
Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.
Government DoD Secret security clearance:
-
Experience working with energetic materials related to rocket motors or warhead production.
-
Ability to communicate technically complex topics and scenarios clearly and concisely.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

4 years’ experience working with Fanuc robots

Previous experience and knowledge of computer programming.

Proficient with Octopuz, MATLAB, Python, Karel, and Fanuc Teach Pendant strongly preferred.
-
Proficient in coordinate transformations and linear algebra.
-
Firm understanding of electronic sensors, load cells and laser locators.
-
Ability to coordinate between various engineering disciplines.
-
Strong understanding of solid rocket motor system design, development, and manufacture
-
Demonstrated experience with problem solving, problem investigation teams, and critical decision-making skills
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations
-
Demonstrated team leadership skills - leader of significant technical projects or investigations and management of multiple program tasks to schedule and budget

Experience with the proposal process

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards:
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
