Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

This role is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will handle Java software development within the Systems Architecture (Sys-Ar) of the Regional Applications team in Huntsville, AL. Working under guidance, they will bring experience from various systems and software areas, along with a broad understanding of related disciplines, application impacts, and customer sectors.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for analyzing and providing technical support for systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support

Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products

Works from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications

Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs

Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system

Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require minor instruction and guidance in other phases

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

*Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued *Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Understanding of software engineering and software development, with Java/J2EE *experience or equivalent OO development experience (additional C++ experience is also desired)*Knowledge of software practices such as coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management

Must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

*Understanding of standard systems engineering design artifacts, such as Use Cases and *SysML diagrams

Preferred Qualifications:

Desired experience in these areas:

Knowledge of agile development methodologies

*Experience developing enterprise applications on *Linux (Windows experience also desired)

Knowledge of Dev Sec Ops and/or build managementWillingness to take on unanticipated tasks

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
