  • Verification & Validation Engineer (25-564) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key element in all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with the C2BMC Regional Applications Analysis team.
Essential Functions:

  • Perform Verification and Validation (V&V) of C2BMC requirements assigned to the RA-AN team, including developing test algorithms, identifying scenarios, creating reports, and coordinating with customers
  • Use both automated tools and manual techniques to conduct software verification and validation in an integrated environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop V&V strategies, set up simulations, document and communicate results, and brief stakeholders
  • Assist with other tasks for the Analysis team as needed

Basic Qualifications:

Please include your current security clearance, IAT Level II or higher, or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (preferred) Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or PhD in a related STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for business needs

  • Proven experience in developing and executing V&V test plans for complex systems, managing requirements, and presenting results to stakeholders and customers

  • Proficiency in automated software evaluation and hands-on data verification (spreadsheets, databases, Linux command line)

  • Understanding systems and software engineering processes, principles, and lifecycles

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas

  • Self-motivated and team-oriented; excels in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
  • Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
  • Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional
  • Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
  • Experience with automated testing and requirements verification in software applications and systems
  • Knowledge of writing Development, Test, Acceptance, and Production (DTAP) procedures
  • Understanding timing-related requirements and their verification
  • Ability to develop verification tools and parsers using MATLAB, Bash, Java, Python, or similar languages
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, SQL queries, regular expressions, reading Java code, and using Git/GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in analysis, visualization, and statistical methods to interpret system trends, behaviors, and test results
  • Background in missile defense battle management, IR/RF sensor tracking, intercept engagements, space domain awareness, or command and control systems
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments using JIRA and Confluence

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,000.00 - $161,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
