Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems is currently seeking a Systems Engineer level 2 or 3 to support our AARGM-ER/SiAW missile program(s) with our talented Advanced Weapons team.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA. Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering lifecycle of missile / weapon system development program(s), supporting requirements development / verification activities, sell-off, and production. They will have technical knowledge in one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry/communication, and airframe. This candidate will work directly with the program's Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) supporting requirements management, requirement sell-off activities, and production support activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support system requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, and further allocate to lower-level requirements.
  • Provide systems engineering support as part of a trouble shooting team with systems matter expertise on other areas, e.g., sensor/radar, software, mechanical, electrical, and material properties.
  • Support efforts for Failure Trend Analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations on RF / electronics sensor systems with exposure to hardware, software, and various applications used on the projects.
  • Perform data mining for both failure database (TipQA) and Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) data variability analysis.
  • Perform functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Assist with the generation and revision of well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents.
  • Support system/subsystems integration, test, and requirements verification activities.
  • Support systems engineering metrics and technical performance measurement tracking.
  • Support the preparation of system engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed.
  • Generate and present data analysis results in vu-graphs to support internal and external meetings.
  • Interface with inter-organizational management and external Customer to communicate technical briefing and program status.
  • Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met; support program status efforts including Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking and Control Account Management (CAM) activities.
  • Partner with Global Supply Chain to manage the technical, schedule, cost, and quality of the missile components from our subcontractors.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer Level (T02)

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of two (2) years of systems engineering experience with any exposure to requirements development, requirements verification, and engineering production activities.
  • Must have proven experience in communicating with peers in a detailed, and process-oriented fashion.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical problems under general supervision.
  • Experience in systems engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO.
  • Experience in configuration management and product lifecycle management tool(s).
  • Experience in root cause correction action process and execution.
  • Experience in technical documentation.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer Level (T03)

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of systems engineering experience with any exposure to requirements development and requirements verification activities; will consider Master of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of three (3) years of systems engineering experience with any exposure to requirements development, requirements verification, and engineering production activities.
  • Must have proven experience in communicating with peers in a detailed, and process-oriented fashion.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical problems under general supervision.
  • Experience in systems engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO.
  • Experience in configuration management and product lifecycle management tool(s).
  • Experience in root cause correction action process and execution.
  • Experience in technical documentation.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering approach.
  • Experience working in the defense industry or weapon systems.

Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Benefits

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
