Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Principal System Test Engineer/Senior Principal System Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Advanced Test and Engineering Services organization to support Space Simulation testing. This position will be located in Baltimore, Maryland.
As a System Test Engineer in Space Simulation you will be responsible for Environmental System test and verification efforts in accordance with Mil-Std 810 environmental testing standards. The ideal candidate will have analytical skills to review MIL Standards, test requirements, and create test plans and procedures based on level I and level II requirements. Interfacing with Systems Engineering, the candidate will develop an expert understanding of environmental product qualification process. The candidate will define test infrastructure to develop and execute environmental system testing at the component, sub-system, and system level in support of design verification and product qualification. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively communicate and work with customers, program management, systems engineering, manufacturing, design engineering and test engineering personnel. The candidate should be self-directed and organized.
Key Responsibilities:

Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.

Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing environmental system test in the area of Space Simulation, specifically thermal-vacuum (TVAC) testing.

Coordinates integrated testing activities.

Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of test program.

Performs technical analysis of data collection and completed test requirements and prepares comprehensive test reports.

This position may be filled as a Principal Systems Test Engineer or a Senior Principal Systems Test Engineer based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for the Principal System Test Engineer:

Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 5 or more years relevant experience OR Master of Science Degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 or more years relevant experience.

Experience in environmental and qualification testing, performing requirements analysis, developing/supporting test environment, integration and test, writing test plans, procedures and reports.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET or higher clearance (with background investigation).

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 8 or more years relevant experience OR Master of Science Degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 or more years relevant experience.

Experience in environmental and qualification testing, performing requirements analysis, developing/supporting test environment, integration and test, writing test plans, procedures and reports.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET or higher clearance (with background investigation).

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

Active DoD SECRET or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).

Experience with MIL-STD 810G environmental test and qualification

Experience with data acquisition systems

Able to collaborate in a team environment

Experience with thermal-vacuum (TVAC) testing

Experience with identifying and specifying modifications and upgrades to thermal-vacuum facility equipment and test setups.

Experience with vacuum chamber control system platforms including Siemens PCS7, Siemens Simatic Batch, and Allen Bradley Control Logix/ Compact Logix/ PlantPAx.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
