About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced hardware design leader to drive the definition, development, and delivery of complex, next-generation hardware solutions. This role operates at a strategic and hands-on technical level, influencing system architecture, product direction, and industry standards while serving as a senior subject-matter expert across the organization. The position requires deep expertise in translating system-level requirements into robust, industry-leading hardware designs and leading large, complex development initiatives with significant scope, risk, and impact.

  • Deep expertise in hardware architecture, board‑level design, and system‑level integration for complex products.
  • Proven experience leading large‑scale hardware product development in a global, matrix environment.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software co‑design and end‑to‑end system engineering.
  • Advanced skills in design modeling, simulation, validation, and engineering analysis.
  • Ability to solve highly complex, novel technical problems using analytical thinking and sound engineering judgment.
  • Experience influencing architecture, roadmap, or technical strategy at organizational or product‑line level.
  • Background in industry standards, technology consortia, or open hardware initiatives is strongly valued.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical solutions to business and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Clear, confident communicator with the credibility to represent Nokia internally and externally.
  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex hardware platforms from concept through product delivery.
  • Translate system‑level requirements, customer use cases, and business objectives into high‑quality hardware designs and prototypes.
  • Drive large, cross‑functional product development programs with significant technical complexity, scale, and risk.
  • Define hardware specifications, interfaces, and operating parameters, considering full system and hardware/software interactions.
  • Coordinate and integrate multiple hardware components into complete, end‑to‑end solutions.
  • Perform design modeling, simulation, validation, and analysis to ensure performance, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Identify design or program gaps, conduct root‑cause analysis, and define corrective actions.
  • Influence technical strategy and roadmap decisions within the wider hardware organization.
  • Act as a senior technical authority and subject‑matter expert across Nokia, including customer and partner engagements.
  • Lead and mentor technical teams, manage resources, and guide complex projects to successful outcomes.
  • Drive technology scouting and assess emerging technologies relevant to Nokia’s product portfolio.
  • Contribute to standardization forums, industry initiatives, and open or collaborative hardware programs.
  • Support supplier evaluations and technical decision‑making in sourcing and partnerships.
