About the role

Researching and implementing quantum communication networks is in the forefront of technological innovation, aiming to enable the reliable transfer and connection of quantum states and ultimately realize a global quantum internet. This emerging field addresses fundamental challenges at theoretical, technological and engineering levels.
We are looking for a talented and motivated PhD student to join our research team and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in quantum communication networks. This position is fixed term, part time, enabling the researcher to achieve significant results to progress towards her/his PhD degree, while strengthening the company's expertise in this disruptive technology.

You are an ideal candidate if (including other requirements):

  • You have master’s degree in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field; you have written your diploma thesis and already conducted preliminary research in the topic of quantum communications.

  • You have strong background in quantum communications and network protocols.

  • You are pursuing studies towards PhD degree at a university registered in Hungary.

  • You are familiar with some simulation environments and/or mathematics software for evaluating quantum communication systems; you have developed your own software components for earlier research; you are familiar with the mathematical and algorithmic background required for research in this field.

  • You are fluent in written and spoken English.

  • You are based in Hungary and You meet all employment conditions in Hungary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate quantum communication channels and quantum entanglement phenomena, analyze free-space quantum communication links with focus on the impairments caused by implementation imperfections.

  • Explore logical structure and theoretical limits of quantum networks and propose new architectures for quantum network protocol stacks.

  • Explore methods and architectures for automated management of quantum networks.

  • Define network resources required for distributed quantum computing and applications.

  • Contribute to realization of stable, scalable global quantum internet based on laboratory demonstrations, computer simulations and mathematical models.

  • Collaborate with international teams while performing the research.
