The Domain Architect acts as a trusted advisor partnering with the customers on their needs. Understands and captures the critical inputs of stakeholders and translates them into effective requirements and solutions. Specifies and designs effective end-to-end solutions incl. customer-specific adaptations by using the Nokia portfolio of products, systems and / or services as well as 3rd party products where required. Applies solution architecture standards, processes, and principles to create and maintain a solution's (technical) integrity over time. The Domain Architect leads end-to-end solution architecture for customer programs within the Telecom domain. This role defines, designs, and governs complex architectures across Cloud Native Solutions and emerging 5G/6G technologies—ensuring technical integrity, customer value, scalability, and lifecycle sustainability

You have:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 4+ years in solution architecture and cloud-native design (Telco experience highly preferred).
  • Certifications in Cloud (AWS, GCP), Architecture frameworks (TOGAF).
  • Certification in Kubernetes (like CKA), Ansible, Terraform are Mandatory.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Japanese.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong background in Telecom Cloud, 5G SA/NSA Core, Telco CNFs/VNFs, and Cloud Native architecture.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, CaaS platforms, service mesh, and observability frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automation tools, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Crossplane/CloudFormation).
  • Solid understanding of Telco protocols (SBI, Diameter, GTP, SCTP), Network Slicing, and Edge/MEC.
  • Cloud implementation experience in AWS, GCP/GKE, or similar platforms.

Professional & Leadership Skills:

  • Strong techno-managerial experience in complex architecture delivery programs.
  • Ability to lead multi-functional technical teams and manage architecture governance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing capabilities.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Master's degree in relevant field.
  • RHOSA and OCP experience will be preferred.

Architecture & Solution Design:

  • Develop customer-specific end-to-end architecture across Cloud, Core, RAN, and Telco workloads (5G SA/NSA, 6G readiness).
  • Deliver High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) with clear traceability to requirements.
  • Translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable, secure, and performant architectures.
  • Ensure architectural alignment with industry standards (3GPP, ETSI, TM Forum, CNCF).
  • Govern architecture integrity throughout project lifecycle, ensuring compliance, consistency, and extensibility.

Cloud & DevOps Leadership:

  • Design customer-specific cloud architectures on NCP, OCP, NCOM, and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP/GKE).
  • Provide hands-on expertise in Cloud Native, Kubernetes, CaaS, microservices, and container orchestration.
  • Collaborate with cloud integrators on deployment, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Lead DevOps initiatives using CI/CD, Git Ops, automation pipelines; experience with Terraform, Crossplane, CloudFormation highly valued.

Customer Engagement & Requirements Management:

  • Capture, validate, and manage customer requirements, ensuring alignment across Business Groups.
  • Drive stakeholder workshops, architecture reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Influence customer technical strategy and participate in key solution selling and pre-sales engagements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate cross-BG/BU architecture components to build cohesive, interoperable solutions.
  • Collaborate with Network Planning, R&D, Product Line, and Delivery teams for solution feasibility and efficiency.
  • Provide architectural guidance across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Thought Leadership & Strategic Contribution:

  • Contribute to technology strategy, solution blueprints, and reference architectures.
  • Lead initiatives on emerging trends such as 5G Core evolution, 6G systems, Network Slicing, O-RAN, Edge Computing, and Cloud Native Telco.
  • Act as senior technical mentor; coach engineering and integration teams on best practices.
  • Solve complex architectural challenges through advanced analytical and domain expertise.
