About the role
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
As the Senior Buyer Merchant for North America Sport Nike Direct Stores, you’ll drive growth in our Sport and Licensed business. We work closely with fellow merchants, buyers and cross-functional teams within Nike Direct; in particular Digital and Stores Buying, Consumer Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Visual Merchandising and Brand Marketing.
You will report to the Nike Direct Sport Merchandising Director.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Senior Buyer to be a part of our Nike Stores Merchandising Team. You will be responsible for Sport and Licensed Buying across all genders for Nike Inline stores in the North America geography. A successful Senior Buyer will be strategic, entrepreneurial, and have the ability to represent Nike Stores in key leadership meetings. They will thrive and contribute to an inclusive, positive, and progressive team dynamic, as well as manage and lead in a way that elevates the total team. The role requires the ability to partner, communicate, and influence key cross-functional partners (Nike Stores Merchandising Merchants & LT, Geo Consumer Merch, Planning & Allocation, Visual Merchandising, Store Concepts teams, Brand Marketing) to bring to life the end in mind vision of the assortment to best serve our Nike consumers. Strong sense of business acumen, the ability to manage and drive multiple seasons, and a deep understanding of trend, consumer, and marketplace will be critical to this role.
The candidate should have an understanding of the rhythm of the sport season, leagues, cities, and key players (including the NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLB, NWSL).

Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training

5+ years’ experience in footwear or apparel buying and/or merchandising, product creation and/or retail in a vertical, multi-brand or digital environment

Footwear, Apparel, Equipment or relevant consumer product buying and/or merchandising experience

Understanding of common retail and/or digital profit-based metrics such as sell-through, turn, ASP, UPT and others

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Entrepreneurial mindset with experience driving new projects or concepts

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to cross-functional partners

Team first mentality

Ability to travel up to 10%
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will own bringing the seasonal assortment to life in Stores. You will understand related aspects of the business and marketplace in making your plans, including coordinating cross sport, brands (Nike & Jordan) and how individual products or collections impact each other. You will collaborate cross functionally to ensure assortment plans meet consumer demand and strategies execute.
You will hone consumer-centric assortment plans across multiple seasons with an understanding of Nike Direct’s position in the market & competitive landscape to blend fact-based and intuitive inputs. You will participate in seasonal buy reviews and in-season trading to influence actions to optimize growth with your critical partners.
