Get a chance to join a world class team with expertise and success in geospatial, including the original founders of Keyhole (foundation for Google Earth and Maps). As the Vice President of Product Management, reporting to the CEO, you will be at the forefront of building the next generation of 3D geospatial models, leading Niantic’s efforts to construct an intelligent, continuously evolving representation of the real world. You will shape and execute a product strategy that empowers enterprises and developers to build VPS-centered and AR-enhanced experiences, and integrates cutting-edge AI and mapping technologies. This role requires a strategic thinker, with expertise in leading tech-heavy product development teams.
We expect the leaders of the company to be based in the office at least 4 days a week.
Job responsibilities

Product Roadmap and Strategy: Define and communicate the strategic roadmap for Niantic’s overall product suite, aligning it with business goals and technological advancements. This includes balancing the goals of cutting-edge innovative platform development with enterprise customer needs.

Cross-Functional Leadership:
Collaborate with engineering, research, design, and business teams to develop scalable 3D geospatial solutions that power location based and AR experiences.
- Partner and Customer Engagement:
Actively participate in strategic partner and customer conversations to co-develop user-centric solutions and find common needs across different potential GTM channels. Employ customer feedback and data insights to drive product improvements.
- Product Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the full lifecycle of geospatial and AI products, from ideation and prototyping to scaling and commercialization. Implement a product development process that strikes the right balance between agility & flexibility alongside appropriate checks and balances given the stage of our business. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. Define and track key product metrics (KPIs) to measure success. Optimize product investments to maximize revenue and profitability.

Lead and inspire the design team (UXD, UXE, & research) fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high-quality design deliverables. Champion a user-centered design philosophy across the product organization, ensuring that user needs and insights deeply inform product strategy and execution.

Cultivate the Team:
Create a leadership culture that values learning, development, coaching, and growth. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and customer-centricity. Ensure that the team has the skills that it needs to effectively deliver today’s roadmap, while also scaling the team's expertise to grow with the company. Think proactively about org structure, hiring, and team placement to setup the product team for maximum success.
- Market and Competitive Analysis:
Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to ensure Niantic remains a leader in geospatial foundation models.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate product strategy, progress, and impact to executives, board members, all-hands audiences, customers and strategic partners, ensuring alignment across the organization. Act as the key spokesperson for the product vision both internally and externally.
Job requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.

12+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Strong technical expertise to be able to have in-depth conversations with research and engineering teams and identify creative solutions.

Deep leadership skills with experience in building, mentoring, and managing high-performing product teams.

Demonstrated ability to go deep on customer needs and creative solution development in order to drive product strategy.

Proven ability to drive innovation and lead large-scale, complex product initiatives from conception to market success.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.

Experience working with distributed, global teams and launching products across multiple markets.

Experience leading a design team, raising the bar on quality and product excellence.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with a user-centric approach to product development.

To all of my fellow POGO players, stop letting fucking greedy Niantic use us as a slave labor force. Every time you scan a Pokéstop, you aren't just "powering up" a gym for 48 hours. You are providing high-resolution, geotagged 3D spatial data to Niantic.
