Job Summary

The Assistant Automation Manager will be based in Batu Kawan, Penang
This role will be responsible for specifying, designing, installing, and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Drive site‑level automation standard penetration and deliver sustainable cost‑saving initiatives.

  • Work with sites to identify and realize measurable cost savings through business case development, technical feasibility studies, standardization, process optimization, and technology adoption.

  • Provide regional automation support, including DFM reviews, FAT, SAT, POC, and NBO activities.

  • Enforce automation governance workflows, including Automation Standard Process, SOW, and DFM reviews, to ensure consistency, compliance, and long‑term sustainability.

  • Site engagement and collaboration on automation penetration assessments.

  • Work closely with sites and PMO to manage project registration and track cost‑saving realization.

  • Collaborate with New Technology Development team to support technical evaluations and business case development for scalable deployment.

  • Support CAP programs to build internal talent and accelerate competency development required for the Flex Future Factory.

  • Support Global IP Supplier Development Program by participating in technical audits and evaluations to enhance deliverability, cost competitiveness, post‑deployment sustainability, and spare parts support planning towards FLEX Automation Penetration in SEA

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation,
    Mechatronics, or equivalent).

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience, including machine design, automation
    deployment, manufacturing processes, and industrial engineering
    environments.

  • Proven experience leading and managing medium- to large-scale
    automation or technical projects across multi-site or regional operations.

  • Strong ability in cross-functional collaboration, working effectively with
    Operations, PMO, IP, and global Flex teams.

  • Excellent influence and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to
    lead initiatives and drive alignment across all relevant counterparts
