Summary:

The Principal Product Manager, Payment Platform, leads the evolution and scaling of Netflix’s global payments infrastructure. This pivotal role ensures our platform remains robust, flexible, and ready to support high transaction volumes, new business models, and rapid market growth. You will set the vision and strategy for the platform, drive technical and operational excellence, and partner across the organization to enable seamless, secure, and innovative payment experiences for all Netflix members and business lines.

This role is central to supporting Netflix’s global growth, enabling new business models, and delivering seamless, secure payments at scale. By owning the payments platform, this leader ensures Netflix can rapidly innovate, enter new markets, and maintain industry-leading payment performance.

Location: This role can be based in our Los Gatos or Los Angeles offices, with a hybrid model. This role can also be remote-based on the West Coast. Travel will be required to our Los Gatos and/or Los Angeles offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic direction for the payments platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and adaptable to new business models and global growth.

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous optimization of core payment platform components, including infrastructure, integrations, and developer-facing APIs.

  • Lead efforts to improve platform scalability, performance, and reliability, proactively identifying and addressing bottlenecks.

  • Manage and optimize integrations with payment providers, processors, and ecosystem partners to maximize payment success and revenue protection.

  • Drive the adoption and integration of machine learning to enhance payment performance and help to develop the underlying platform leveraged for fraud detection and personalized payment flows.

  • Collaborate with internal business lines to deliver flexible, reusable payments capabilities that accelerate innovation.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, legal, product, data science) to ensure platform solutions meet compliance, security, and business requirements.

  • Build strong relationships with external partners to stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.

  • Partner with other product teams as needed to ensure payment platform solutions seamlessly support new business initiatives and cross-domain experiences.

Domain Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, platform engineering, and/or technical program management within payments.

  • Deep understanding of global payment systems, payment processing infrastructure, and third-party integrations.

  • Proven track record of scaling and optimizing large-scale, high-availability platforms.

  • Experience with API-first product development and developer platform strategy.

  • Familiarity with machine learning applications in payments (e.g., routing optimization, fraud detection).

  • Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and security requirements for global payments.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with engineering, operations, finance, legal, and external partners.

  • Ability to translate complex technical challenges into scalable, business-oriented solutions.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $660,000.00 - $1,000,000.00.

We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
