Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Firmware Engineering Intern to join our team based in Cork. The ideal candidate has a strong interest inembedded systems and firmware development, with foundational hands‑on experience in low‑level programming or DevOps practices. This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers on real‑world firmware for innovative storage technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of embedded firmware for Net App products
  • Work with hardware and software teams to support firmware integration and bring‑up activities
  • Participate in debugging and troubleshooting of firmware and embedded systems under guidance
  • Contribute to creating and executing Unit Tests and Functional Tests for firmware code
  • Learn and actively support DevOps and CI/CD pipelines used in the firmware development lifecycle
  • Participate in code and design reviews to learn firmware best practices and receive feedback

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Hands‑on experience or coursework in C/C++ (Python as a secondary language)
  • Strong interest in embedded systems, firmware, or low‑level software development
  • Basic understanding of debugging tools and techniques (e.g. logs, debuggers, hardware interaction)
  • Exposure to or interest in DevOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing
  • Willingness to work in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to collaborate within an engineering team

Your profile

  • Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields such as Mathematics or Physics
  • Open to graduates seeking a 6–8 month internship after graduation
  • Must be based in Cork for the duration of the internship
  • Must have unrestricted right to work in Ireland for the full internship period (no sponsorship available)
