Position Summary

One of our newest factories, located along the Virginia border, breathes new life into a former brewery, creating an innovative and technologically advanced pet food manufacturing facility. We have transformed the existing structure in Rockingham County to produce leading dry dog and cat food brands, including Purina Pro Plan®, Purina ONE®, and Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets®. With a strong focus on sustainability and safety, this facility is committed to doing our part to care for the environment, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity and maintaining zero waste for disposal. As a Maintenance Technician Class C (Multi-Craft) you will be responsible for the maintenance of all plant systems which include processing, packaging, and BUS (batching, unloading, slurry). You will troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical equipment. Working in a safe manner at all times, you will play a major role in machine reliability and process improvements across the plant. Our maintenance work includes both predictive and preventative maintenance.

Position work schedule is 6:00 pm - 6:00am.

  • Remain proficient with the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial electrical control systems, electromechanical systems, and fluid power.
  • Understand how automated equipment and its components work; utilize knowledge of PLC programming to troubleshoot production equipment without modifying programing.
  • Properly use mechanical and electrical tools and diagnostic instruments.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to maintain equipment and solve technical problems.
  • Operate forklift to move equipment or parts as needed.
  • Remain proficient at utilizing computerized maintenance management systems and other digital tools.
  • Utilize basic rigging, mechanical practices, pipefitting, and welding skills in an industrial environment.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed.
  • Perform all tasks with safety and food safety best practices.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to train other employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing, technical, warehouse, industrial, military, or related environment.

The hourly pay for this position is $36.50 an hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location
