Department Overview

The Core Platform & Services team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure, reliability, security and Business operational services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Cloud Computing infrastructure on Azure, AWS and GCP to build at scale.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer with expertise in Node.js and Python to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs. The ideal candidate will contribute to backend architecture, database design, basic CI/CD pipelines, and ensure code quality through validation and testing. This role requires strong technical abilities, ownership, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. ​

Basic Requirements:

​Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js and Python.

• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database structures.

• Implement best practices for API validation, error handling, logging, and input sanitization.

• Write clean, maintainable, and modular backend code following coding standards.

• Create and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests.

• Build and support basic CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.

• Work with Docker and environment configurations for development and production workloads.

• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, QA, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and ensure application stability.

• Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.

Basic Requirements

• Strong experience in backend engineering with Node.js and Python.

• Good understanding of APIs, microservices, and backend architectural patterns.

• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and writing optimized queries.

• Familiarity with validation, testing, and debugging practices.

• Ability to work with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.

• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering with 4+ years of professional experience in backend development.

• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems.

• Understanding of software engineering principles, SDLC, and design patterns.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.

• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
