Mission Summary: We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Cloud Apps team as a strategic technical leader in Singapore. As we transition from R&D to full commercial operations, you will lead the technical evolution of our infrastructure to support a rapidly growing robotaxi fleet.

In this role, you will architect the backbone for our core commercial capabilities—scaling our dispatch engines, building integrations with partners like Uber, and optimizing real-time services.

This is a high-impact technical role where you will drive architectural decisions that ensure our system is robust, scalable, and ready for the rigors of a live passenger service. You will act as a force multiplier for the team, elevating engineering standards and mentoring others as we tackle complex distributed system challenges.

What will you be doing?

  • Architect for Scale: Lead the design and optimization of our distributed systems to handle significant fleet growth. You will identify bottlenecks in real-time data pipelines and redesign core services to ensure low-latency performance at commercial scale.

  • Commercial Reliability & Observability: Drive the transition from "R&D" to "Commercial Grade" reliability. You will implement high-availability patterns and embed comprehensive observability metrics to ensure end-to-end system health and rapid anomaly detection.

  • Technical Roadmap Ownership: Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define the technical roadmap. You will balance immediate commercial deliverables with long-term architectural investments to ensure sustainable system evolution.

  • Engineering Excellence & Team Growth: Champion best practices in code quality, system design, and documentation. You will mentor senior engineers, shape the engineering culture, and play a key role in the future technical or people leadership of the organization.

What we hope you’ll come with:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with a proven track record of operating at a Staff, Lead, or equivalent senior level.

  • You have deep knowledge of concurrency, database consistency, and microservices patterns. You know how to build systems that fail gracefully and recover automatically.

  • You have a "reliability mindset." You are experienced with post-mortems, incident management, and building systems that are easy to debug and operate.

  • Deep experience with Golang (preferred) or Python in a production environment.

  • Strong experience with major cloud providers (AWS/GCP/Azure) and a solid understanding of containerization and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.

Bonus Points for experience with:

  • Experience leading technical projects in a globally distributed team.

  • Experience with OLAP databases (e.g., Click House) or building observability tools for monitoring and tracing.

  • Previous experience in the Autonomous Vehicle (AV), Robotics, or IoT industries.
