The role will report locally to the MSESE Group Head of Risk Control, Stress Testing and Capital and functionally to the EMEA Head of Stress Testing, Portfolio Risk and Capital. The role holder will collaborate with personnel in the Budapest and London Risk teams.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

Background on the Position
The Stress Testing and Portfolio Risk team is responsible for controlling and reporting aggregate risk positions, for coordinating and executing stress testing across risk types and for providing relevant management information and insights. The team also leads the execution of cross risk processes such as ICAAP, Resolution and Recovery Planning (RRP), Risk ID, risk appetite and regulatory stress tests.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the execution of cross risk stress testing activities, in particular the Risk Division's contributions to the group-wide capital planning related exercises including ICAAP, RRP as well as regulatory stress tests (EU-wide and thematic), together with specialists from risk teams in Frankfurt, London and Budapest
  • Contribute to the continuous development of relevant methodologies for economic capital and stress testing as well as relevant production processes
  • Support interactions with supervisory bodies and external auditors in the context of cross risk stress testing and capital planning activities
  • Maintain relevant policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and contribute to self-assessments
  • More broadly, the role holder will contribute where appropriate to regional or global Risk Division initiatives, projects, and home or host regulatory requests

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in dealing with financial regulators including topics such as SREP etc.
  • Strong understanding of capital adequacy concepts across various components, especially in the context of ICAAP / RRP and regulatory stress testing
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise as well as to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in influencing, facilitating and gaining consensus
  • The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
  • Fluency in English is required, with German as an advantage
  • The ability to work effectively in a small team environment, building and maintaining a network of contacts and coordinating with a large number of stakeholders
